Kindergarten students recently had the opportunity to test out some new learning toys for the EXPO room. Made from pipe insulation, peg board and some twist ties the students were not sure what this was to begin with. Once they were shown how to attach the foam to the pegboard and then given marble it became a game. They were now roller-coaster designers, engineers, and official testers of their own products and designs.
The activity was based on many other STEM type designs that have been showcased around the web. The beauty comes from the simplicity of the tools and the adaptability of both the peg board and the pipe insulation. The students had and awesome time figuring out how to get their creations to work and the excitement of seeing it working right away.
